What are motorhome tyres?

Motorhome tyres are heavy-duty, high-load-index tyres — often “CP” (camping) marked — built for the weight of a motorhome and the long spells it spends parked. They resist the sidewall cracking and flat-spotting that come from standing, and carry the load safely at sustained motorway speeds.

A motorhome is far heavier than a car or van, so the tyres must carry the right load index and, ideally, a CP marking designed for motorhome axle loads and higher pressures.

Because motorhomes cover low miles but stand for months, the rubber ages and cracks long before the tread wears — so age and condition matter as much as tread depth. We fit at your home, storage or campsite, with 0% Pay Monthly.

Why it matters

Motorhome tyres are a safety item

Get the rating and the age right and you avoid the classic motorhome blowout.

Correct load rating

Sized and load-rated for your motorhome’s heavy axle weights — no under-rated fits.

Age & sidewall cracking

Motorhome rubber perishes with age — we check for cracking and advise on replacement.

Flat-spot from standing

Months parked can flat-spot a tyre — we spot it and put it right before a trip.

Fitted where it’s stored

Home, storage compound or campsite — we come to the ’van so you don’t have to move it.

Replace

When should you replace motorhome tyres?

With a motorhome it’s usually age, not mileage, that ends a tyre’s life.

5–7 years old

Most makers advise replacing at 5–7 years regardless of tread — check the date code.

Low tread

At or nearing the limit — but on a motorhome the tread rarely reaches it before age does.

Cracks or bulges

Sidewall cracks, crazing or bulges mean replace now — a motorhome blowout is serious.

Before a big trip

Heading away fully loaded? Get them checked and set to the right pressures first.

FAQs

Motorhome Tyres FAQs

What are CP motorhome tyres?
“CP” is a marking for tyres designed specifically for motorhomes — they handle the high axle loads and higher inflation pressures a motorhome needs. They’re not essential on every ’van but they’re the ideal fit; we’ll advise what suits yours.
How often should motorhome tyres be replaced?
Usually on age, not tread — most manufacturers recommend replacement at 5–7 years because the rubber perishes while the ’van stands. We check the date code and condition and give you an honest recommendation.
Do you fit at my home or storage compound?
Yes — we’re fully mobile across the North West and North Wales, so we come to your home, storage yard or campsite and fit on the spot. No need to move the motorhome. You can also visit our St Helens centre.
How much are motorhome tyres?
It depends on the size and load rating. Our price includes fitting, balancing and disposal, with no call-out fee and 0% Pay Monthly available. WhatsApp your tyre size (on the sidewall) to 0300 124 6981 for a fixed price.
What pressures should motorhome tyres run?
Motorhome pressures are usually higher than a car’s and depend on your axle loads — we set them correctly when we fit, and can advise based on your weight plate.
Can I pay monthly for motorhome tyres?
Yes — spread the cost at 0% interest with no credit check, on two or more tyres. Handy for a full set before the season.
My motorhome has flat-spotted over winter — can you help?
Yes — light flat-spotting can ease once warmed through, but if it’s set in you’ll feel a vibration and the tyre may need replacing. Send us the details and we’ll advise.
Do you fit tyres to campervans too?
Yes — campervans, coachbuilts, A-class and panel-van conversions. Tell us the base vehicle and size and we’ll match the right tyre.
