The A5004 Long Hill runs about 0.1 miles from Taxal. Traffic on it moves quickly, so it is no place for a jack. If you cannot get off the road and the car is sat in the lane, ring 999. Winter tyres use a softer rubber and a tread with lots of small cuts, called sipes, that bite into cold, wet and slushy roads. Below about 7 degrees they stop sooner than summer tyres.
