The short answer

Can I get a tyre fitted at Loweswater in the Lake District?

Yes. YourNewTyres drives into Loweswater, CA13, the valley between Cockermouth and Buttermere, at any hour and fits your new tyre at home, at a holiday cottage or in the car park where you left the car. A WhatsApp with the reg brings back prices with fitting and a real arrival time. You pay nothing for the call out.

Loweswater is a quiet valley with no shop, no station and no garage, just lanes, farms and the lake. The nearest town is Cockermouth. That is a long way to drive on a tyre you do not trust, over roads with sharp bends and stone walls. So do not. We come to you. For Cockermouth and the wider area, see mobile tyre fitting Cockermouth.

Plenty of cars at Loweswater spend the day in a walkers' car park. Maggie's Bridge car park is about 0.4 miles from the village and the Lanthwaite Wood National Trust car park about 0.5. Come back to a flat? Send the reg and which car park, and we fit it where it sits. Spot it before you set off? Go for your walk and let us get on with it.

If you live here, most jobs are done at home, on the drive or in the yard. Tell us about the ground and any gates when you message. The rest of the county is on our Cumbria page and mobile tyre fitting Cockermouth.

How much does mobile tyre fitting cost in Loweswater?

Mobile tyre fitting in Loweswater costs from £79.95 per tyre, fitted at your home, work or the roadside. That includes fitting, balancing, a new valve and taking the old tyre away, with no call-out charge at any hour. A puncture repair to British Standard BS AU 159 is £39.95.

How quickly can a mobile tyre fitter get to me in Loweswater?

Around 32 minutes on average, measured on our own job records across our core area, 24 hours a day. The common sizes ride on the van, so most jobs in Loweswater are fitted the same day, and rarer sizes are usually next day. Send the registration and where the car is, and a fitted price and a real arrival time come straight back.

WhatsApp, any hour

Send the tyre size. We send back a fitted price and a time.

The size is on the sidewall of the tyre, or send us a photo of it. It lands with the fitter on shift. No call-out charge, and the fitting is already in the price.

The size is printed on the sidewall, like 205/55 R16. Send that and where you are, and I will come back with a fitted price and the next slot.

A photo of the sidewall does the job if you would rather not type it out.

Things to do in Loweswater

Old mines, tall trees and a famous lone tree

Loweswater is walking country, and there is more to see just over the hills. The Lone Tree Buttermere is about 3.5 miles away, and so is Sandybeck Meadow National Nature Reserve. Force Crag Mine, an old mine, is about 3.5 miles from Loweswater too. Families head for Go Ape Whinlatter and the Whinlatter Visitor Centre, both about 4.5 miles off, while Wild Ennerdale is about the same distance the other way.

Back at the car after a day in the trees, and a tyre is down? Please do not drive it over the pass. Send us the reg and the car park, then get a hot drink. We come to the car and fit the new tyre. Or, if you are staying in Loweswater, we fit it outside the cottage in the morning. Any hour is fine, and there is no charge to come out. The nearest town is on our mobile tyre fitting Cockermouth page.

Lone tree, old mine or tree top trail: the tyre is done meanwhile.

FAQs

Mobile tyre fitting Loweswater: questions answered

For CA13, walkers and the valley farms.

There is one fitted price per tyre and it is the price you pay, whatever the hour. Send the registration on WhatsApp and you get budget, mid-range and premium options back, each with the fitting already in. A pair or a set can go on pay monthly at 0% interest, subject to status.

The arrival time we send is the real one for that job, not a promise made before we know where you are. On a motorway, get behind the barrier first, then send your location, and read what to do after a motorway blowout first.

Yes. Loweswater is a long way from any tyre bay, but not from us. YourNewTyres drives into the valley at any hour, with your tyre, a changer and a balancer on board, and the fitter does the whole job next to the car.

You can start it from the car park. WhatsApp 07943 185471 with the reg and which car park or a map pin, since phone signal and postcodes are both patchy out here. You get back three fitted prices, budget, mid range and premium, and an arrival time.

The drive into the valley is not charged: no call out fee, day or night. The price includes the valve, balancing and taking the old tyre away. Rather ring? 0300 124 6981. The town page is mobile tyre fitting Cockermouth.

First, do not try to drive it out. The lanes from Loweswater are narrow, with sharp bends and stone walls, and a flat tyre can come off the rim or ruin the alloy within a mile. Leave the car in the car park.

Send us the reg, which car park, and a photo of the tyre. Maggie's Bridge car park and the Lanthwaite Wood National Trust car park are both under a mile from the village, and both are places we can reach. We tell you whether it looks like a £39.95 repair or a new tyre.

Then find somewhere to wait out of the weather. The fitter arrives, swaps the tyre and balances it, and you drive away. See what to do with a flat and flat tyre and no spare.

Yes, and it is the best way to do it. If you notice a soft tyre as you park at Loweswater, send us the reg and the car park, tell us where the locking nut key is, and head up the fell. The fitter meets the car, not you.

He changes the tyre and sends a photo, so if you pick up signal on the tops you will know it is done. If you are out of signal, the message will be waiting when you get back down. The price is the same as fitting at home.

Leave the key in a safe spot, like the glovebox or with someone you trust, and make sure the car is not blocking a gate or a passing place. More on how it works: mobile fitting explained.

At Loweswater the price depends on your tyre size and which brand you choose, and nothing else. We send three figures, a budget, a mid range and a premium tyre, each one fully fitted.

We do not charge for driving into the valley. We do not charge extra at night, at weekends or on bank holidays. The figure covers fitting, a new valve, balancing and recycling, and you pay it by a link after the job.

If the car turns out to have a different size fitted, the fitter checks the new figure with you before carrying on. A £39.95 repair can be the cheapest fix. Need a pair? Monthly payments at 0% interest are there, subject to status. See mobile fitting costs.

Often it can. A puncture repair at Loweswater costs £39.95, done to BS AU 159. Fell lanes are littered with sharp stone, and the small, clean holes it makes are usually the mendable kind.

The fitter always takes the tyre off the rim to look at the inside first. A small hole in the middle of the tread usually repairs. A cut on the shoulder, damage in the side wall from a stone wall or a sharp rock, or a tyre driven flat is not safe.

If it cannot be mended, a new tyre goes on during the same visit. Whatever is stuck in the tread, leave it there for now; it is plugging the hole. The rules: what can be mended.

We do. Loweswater is on our list through the night as well as the day, and the bill does not change with the clock. There is no night rate, and still no fee for coming out.

The valley is completely dark at night and the weather can change quickly. If a tyre goes after dark, pull into a car park, a gateway or a passing place where you are not blocking the lane, hazards on, and wait away from the road. If the car could be hit where it is, ring 999.

If you are safe at home or at your cottage, you may prefer a visit at first light. With the locking nut key in the glovebox, you can sleep through it. Night jobs explained: out of hours fitting. Each tyre takes about 20 to 40 minutes on site.

Safety first. Wherever it happens, slow down gently, put the hazards on and get off the road into a lay-by, a slip road or onto the hard shoulder. Passengers out on the verge side, well back.

Motorway or dual carriageway? Climb behind the barrier and stay there. Car stranded in a running lane? That is a 999 call, straight away. A wheel swap beside fast traffic is never worth it.

When everyone is clear, drop us the location. If a recovery truck moves the car, just send the new spot. See after a motorway blowout. If you make it home to Loweswater on a sound spare, we can fit the new tyre there instead. Keep warm and keep your phone charged while you wait.

Yes. Lots of people stay in cottages round Loweswater, and a flat on holiday is the last thing you need. Send the reg and the address of the cottage, or a map pin, and we come to the car there.

You do not need to know the size; the reg is enough. Hire car or company car? Tell us, as some have their own rules on who can fit tyres. If the locking nut key is not in the car, check the boot floor and the glovebox before you message.

It costs the same as fitting at home, with no call out charge. Pay by a link on your phone. If you have lost the locking nut key, we can still get the wheel off.

Yes. Every Loweswater quote includes a new budget tyre next to a mid range and a premium one. We never fit part worn tyres.

If you mostly do gentle runs into Cockermouth, a good budget tyre is fine. If you drive the fell passes, tow, or run a heavy SUV, a mid range or premium tyre may grip better and last longer, so it can cost less per mile. We will give you our honest pick.

Wet grip matters on wet fell roads, and every option shows its EU wet grip and noise grades. Buying two or more? They can go on 0% monthly payments, subject to status. Compare on budget vs premium; if you are not sure you need tyres yet, send a tread photo and we will tell you for free.

All of them. Hopebeck is about 2.2 miles from Loweswater, Mosser and Low Lorton about 2.9, High Lorton about 3.1, Lamplugh about 3.2 and Buttermere about 3.3. One price list and the same round the clock cover for every one of them.

We work at farms, cottages, holiday lets, on drives and in the walkers' car parks. Tell us about gates, cattle grids and steep tracks when you message. If you are not sure we reach you, send the postcode or a pin and get a clear yes or no.

Nearby places with their own page include Buttermere and Low Lorton. The main page is mobile tyre fitting Cockermouth. If a second car in the party needs a tyre too, we do both on the same trip.
