You are through to YourNewTyres. What size are the tyres?
The size is printed on the sidewall, like 205/55 R16. Send that and where you are, and I will come back with a fitted price and the next slot.
A photo of the sidewall does the job if you would rather not type it out.

Got us out of an unfortunate place of a Luton van blowout, super quick helpful and fairly priced!
Stranded in a car park with no spare! Called and they came within the hour, changed the tyre and was on my way 20 minutes later. Great service, delighted they made it so easy.
Brilliant service, same day, quick and easy. Was really rushed for time and they moved things around to ensure they got to me to get it fixed. Would defo recommend
At home, at a holiday let or at the side of the road. The van brings it all.
Choose value, mid range or premium in your size and it goes on outside, with the old tyre taken for recycling. See mobile tyre fitting.
Punctures in the central tread get a plug and patch fitted from inside, to BS AU 159. More on puncture repairs.
Tell us early and the fitter brings extractors, so the locking nuts come off first. See locking wheel nut removal.
Every wheel is balanced as we fit. If wear points to the tracking, we tell you. See wheel alignment.
A cold snap finishes off tired batteries, and a failed valve sensor leaves the tyre lamp glowing for good. Both are swapped on the drive. Read TPMS sensor replacement or mobile battery fitting.
Builders, joiners and couriers working out of Mintsfeet keep the wheels turning while we swap tyres beside the unit. See fleet tyre fitting.
Tell us the car park name and the row, or the street, and the colour of the car. Then go and enjoy the town.
Shopping in the middle of town? Send the row as you head in, and the tyre is sorted before you are through the till.
A quick shop by the river. Drop a pin in the car park, and the van parks alongside.
On the north side of town by the A6. Tell us where you parked, go in, and come back to a fixed car.
Browsing the shops off Stricklandgate? Send the level and bay, and the fitter walks straight to it.
In town for the museums or a coffee? Park, send the space, and leave the rest to us.
Clocked in on the north side of town? Name the firm and the bay. The wheel comes off and goes back on while you work.
Kendal has a surprising amount to see for its size. The Quaker Tapestry Museum is right in the centre. Down by the river, under half a mile away, Abbot Hall Art Gallery sits next door to the Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry, so one trip covers both. For a climb with a view, Kendal Castle is about half a mile up the hill. National Trust fans can head to Sizergh Castle, around 3 miles south.
Museums first, tyre second. WhatsApp the reg and name the Kendal car park, and the job gets done as you wander from room to room. Staying in a cottage out of town? The van reaches it too, even late in the evening, and you are never billed for the drive. Heading on to the lake? Try mobile tyre fitting Windermere.
Spread the cost of your tyres
Spread the cost of your tyresTwo or more tyres can be paid over the months at 0%, subject to status. It costs exactly the same as paying in one go in Kendal.
A flat on a Lakes weekend should not mean hunting for a garage that is open. We come to you instead. Send the plate, see the prices, and the van heads out. Call 0300 124 6981 at any hour.
Kendal drivers get more out of their tyres than most. The roads into the fells are steep, narrow and lined with stone walls, and loose stone and grit get into the tread. Frost and snow come early on the higher ground. A tyre with 3mm left can still pass, but grip on a cold wet hill falls away fast. The law says 1.6mm. Send the plate and we price three tyres, including all season options. All season tyres explains when they make sense.

Thousands of visitors pass through Kendal on their way to the Lakes, with cars packed to the roof and caravans on the back. Heavy loads and long runs up the M6 are hard on tyres, and a flat at a holiday let can spoil the week. We come to the cottage, the hotel car park or the campsite and fit the tyre while you get on with the holiday. If it is a hire car, check with the hire firm first. Caravan tyres covers age and load.

A tyre that fails at eleven at night on the A591 costs no more than one at eleven in the morning. The hour does not change the price. On the M6, safety comes first: get well over, hazards on, everyone out and behind the barrier, and ring 999 at once if the car is stranded in a running lane. Once clear, WhatsApp the pin. Payment is by a secure payment link sent to your phone. Emergency mobile tyre fitting explains night work.

The common sizes ride on the van, so most jobs in Kendal are fitted the same day, and rarer sizes are usually next day. Send the registration and where the car is, and a fitted price and a real arrival time come straight back.
The arrival time we send is the real one for that job, not a promise made before we know where you are. On a motorway, get behind the barrier first, then send your location, and read what to do after a motorway blowout first.
Yes, and he drives to you. Kendal is covered street by street, from Stricklandgate and the riverside to Kentrigg, Heron Hill, Mintsfeet and out towards Oxenholme. Message the plate and you get three prices with fitting built in, plus a straight answer on when the van will reach you. Coming out costs nothing.
Plenty of Kendal garages shut on a Saturday afternoon and all of Sunday, which is exactly when holiday traffic picks up screws and kerbs. Driving a flat across town also wrecks the tyre and can damage the wheel. Our fitter parks next to the car with the new tyre on board and does the whole job there. Sizes too rare for the van are ordered on your plate and fitted the next morning. Mobile tyre fitting walks through a visit.
No surprise lines appear on the bill. The valve, the balance weights and the recycling of the worn tyre are part of the fitted price, and heading up a fell lane or out after dark adds nothing. A fair number of flats in town are one screw sitting in the tread centre, where a £39.95 repair can save the tyre, and a clear picture helps us judge. For tyres that cope with frosty fell roads, see best all season tyres, or call 0300 124 6981.
Yes. Kendal has us on call through the night, every night, Christmas and bank holidays included, and the late fit is priced the same as a lunchtime one. Tell us the plate, what went wrong and where the car is, and you get a price plus an honest idea of when the fitter will arrive.
After dark the calls vary. A nurse coming off a late shift at Westmorland General finds a tyre down on the staff car park. A family reaches their holiday let at ten with the tyre light glowing. A lorry driver comes off at junction 36 with a steer tyre losing air. If you are on a fast road, the car matters least. Get well away from the traffic, hazards flashing, and ring 999 if the car is stuck in a lane. Tyre blowout on the motorway gives the order.
The vans carry floodlights that light up the whole wheel arch, so nothing is rushed in the dark. You hear when to expect us, and you get a message if snow on the A6 or roadworks change that. Wait in the car only if it is safely off the road, otherwise stay inside somewhere warm. Many newer cars carry just a pump and a can of goo in place of a spare, which is no help for a split tyre. Flat tyre with no spare explains, or phone 0300 124 6981.
Yes, at any hour. Kendal sits between two M6 junctions, 36 for the A591 and 37 for the A684, and we attend tyre failures on both, plus the long climb north past Killington towards Tebay. Before you think about the tyre: car off the carriageway, people behind the barrier, and 999 if you are stranded in a live lane.
This part of the M6 is fast, often windy and in places miles between exits, so do not be tempted to drive on a failing tyre to the next junction. When everyone is safe, WhatsApp a pin, the plate and your direction, north for Penrith or south for Lancaster. On a hard shoulder the fitter usually works where the car sits, van tucked behind with amber lights going. A car stranded in a lane is moved by the police or National Highways before we touch it. What to do after a tyre blowout explains.
Motorway blowouts rarely leave anything to repair, so a replacement rides in the van. Hills and speed can also damage the wheel, and the fitter checks the rim for cracks or a bent lip before anything goes back on. Whether the car ends up at the junction lay by, a services car park or back at your house on a truck, the price matches a drive fit. See emergency mobile tyre fitting, and send the pin to 07943 185471 when you are clear.
Yes. If you are staying in or around Kendal and a tyre goes flat, we can fit it at the cottage, the hotel car park or the campsite. Send the plate, the name of the place and a pin. You carry on with the holiday while the fitter sorts the car.
Holiday cars are often loaded to the roof, so tell us if the boot is packed over the spare or the jack, and we will work round it. If your wheels have locking nuts, find the key before we arrive, or tell us it is missing so we bring the extractors. If it is a hire car, check with the hire company first, as some have their own rules. Hotel car parks are usually fine for us to work in. Locking wheel nut removal explains what happens if the key is lost.
You pay by a secure payment link sent to your phone, so there is no need to find a cash machine. The price is the same as a fit at home. If you are touring and the car is parked at a walkers' car park, a pin and the plate are enough. Want to know what to do if you have no spare? Spare vs run flat vs sealant explains it. Message the details to 07943 185471 and enjoy the rest of your day.
For most drivers in and around Kendal, a good all season tyre is the best choice for winter. It grips far better than a summer tyre on cold, wet and icy roads, and it can be left on all year. Drivers who head over Shap or up into the fells often may want dedicated winter tyres.
Summer tyres go hard below about 7°C, so they grip less on cold mornings. All season and winter tyres use a softer rubber and more grooves, which help on slush, frost and wet leaves. For the A591, the fell roads and the A6 over Shap, that grip makes a real difference. Tread depth matters too: aim for at least 3mm going into winter. Do you need winter tyres in the UK explains the choice simply.
Whatever you choose, we match the size and load index your car needs and keep the tyres on each axle the same. If you only change two, the newer pair usually goes on the back for stability. The fitter will say if any tyre looks cracked or old. Send the plate and we will price three options, including all season, before the first frost. Read winter driving checklist, or ring 0300 124 6981.
Yes. Burneside, Staveley, Oxenholme, Natland, Levens, Sedgwick, Endmoor and Crook are all part of our Kendal round. Each one pays the Kendal price, with nothing on top for the lanes. Send the plate plus a postcode, or better still a pin from the farm track, and a fitted price is on its way.
Postcodes out here can cover a whole hillside, so the pin matters. The fitters are used to the road up to Crook, the lanes around Natland and the steep drives above Staveley, and they know a cattle grid when they see one. Tell us if the car is in a gravel yard or behind a gate, and boards and the right jack come along. A few places close by have their own pages, like mobile tyre fitting in Windermere and Milnthorpe.
St Helens is where the vans start the day, and our round stretches across more than 2,700 towns and villages in North West England plus North Wales. South Cumbria and the Kent valley are a regular part of that, so a fit here is routine for the crew. Every place we serve is named on the coverage page. If you would rather not scroll, text the plate and postcode to 07943 185471 and we will answer.
In Kendal a mobile fit is charged as the tyre price alone, because the fitting is already part of it. You pay nothing on top for the van coming out, the valve, balancing or recycling, whether you live here or are on holiday. The total changes only with the tyre you pick and its size.
A lot of cars round Kendal are SUVs and estates built for fells, dogs and luggage, and their larger tyres cost more than a city car's. That is the rubber, not the labour. For each plate we send three choices: a budget tyre we trust, a mid range name and a premium brand. The one you choose is the bill, at noon or at midnight, in town or at a campsite. How much does mobile tyre fitting cost explains more.
Winter changes the maths a little. An all season tyre usually costs a touch more than a summer one in the same size, but on a frosty morning on the road to Windermere it earns that back in grip. Screws in the tread centre are often a £39.95 repair rather than a new tyre, so send a picture first. Pairs and sets can be split at 0% a month, subject to status. Typical figures sit on tyre prices in 2026, or phone 0300 124 6981.
Yes. The Kendal van is fitted out like a tyre shop, with a powered changer, a digital balancer and a torque wrench that is checked for accuracy. Our service is approved by the AA and the RAC, and our fitters are trained to work safely at the roadside. You just do not have to drive anywhere.
One difference people like is that they can see everything. The fitter shows you the old tyre and explains why it failed, whether that was a nail, a kerb strike on the one way loop or age cracks from years in a garage. He looks over the other three and tells you plainly how long they have left, even if the answer is years. Then he torques each bolt by hand to your car maker's figure rather than hammering them on with an air gun. REACT trained tyre fitters explains the training.
There are two jobs a van is not built for, and we will tell you rather than bluff. Setting the tracking on all four wheels takes a laser rig fixed to a workshop floor, so a car that wanders on the A591 gets pointed to a garage that owns one. A really rare size needs a day to arrive. Both come up before any money is taken. The AA approval is explained on AA approved mobile tyre fitting, and 0300 124 6981 takes any other question.
Yes. Every wheel we fit in Kendal is balanced on the van's machine before it goes back on, and it costs nothing extra. An unbalanced wheel usually shows as a shake through the steering between 50 and 70 mph, which you would notice on the A591 bypass or the M6.
Where you feel the shake tells you something. A buzz through the steering wheel usually means a front wheel is out of balance. A shake through the seat or the floor usually points to a rear one. Either way, the heavy spot is hitting the road again and again, wearing the tread in patches and loading the suspension. The balancer finds it to within a few grams, and the fitter adds a weight to cancel it out. Wheel balancing explained shows how.
Cattle grids, frost heave and the odd deep hole on a fell lane can flick a weight clean off a rim. The first you know is a new tremble that was not there last week. That calls for a rebalance, not new tyres, and we are happy to do just that at the house. A buckled wheel is a different story, since no weight can straighten metal, and you will hear that honestly. Read wheel balancing, or film the steering at speed and send it to 07943 185471.
One tyre takes 20 to 40 minutes in Kendal once the fitter is beside the car, and a pair takes about an hour. You know when the van will arrive before you agree, so you can go for a walk, look round the town or carry on working.
Holiday cottages and fell farms often have steep or gravel drives, so the fitter may take a few moments to lay boards and chock the wheels before the jack goes under. After that it is the usual routine: wheel off, old tyre removed on the machine, new tyre fitted and seated, wheel balanced, pressure set and wheel back on with the bolts torqued up by hand. Before leaving he looks at the other three tyres too. How mobile tyre fitting works has more.
Old cars that have seen a lot of salted winters can slow things down, because the wheel sometimes welds itself to the hub with rust and needs coaxing off. A missing lock key or a sensor that needs replacing can add time too. Any of those gets mentioned before extra work starts, so the price never jumps without your say. Go and see the castle while it happens, and settle up through a secure payment link sent to your phone. Room needed is on can you fit tyres at home.
Yes. When two or more tyres are fitted in Kendal, you can spread the cost over monthly payments at 0%, subject to status. You pay exactly the same price as if you paid it all at once. It is a good way to get a car ready for winter without a big bill in one go.
Many Kendal drivers change a full set before winter, sometimes to all season tyres. That is sensible on fell roads, but it is a lot to pay in one month. On the plan, you choose your tyres from our three prices, apply on your phone and get a quick answer. Once approved, the fitter comes out and fits them. Nothing extra is added. Read the terms on pay monthly tyres before applying. One tyre is simply paid by link after fitting.
Holding on to bald tyres through a Cumbrian winter is a false saving. The penalty for each tyre below 1.6mm can reach £2,500 plus 3 points, and on a frosty slope near Kendal a worn tread can turn a gentle stop into a slide into a wall. Hospital staff, carers and other key workers may also get up to 30% off, and the rules are on NHS discount tyres. Say which applies when you send the plate to 07943 185471.
The fit still goes ahead. Kendal drivers mislay these little keys more than anything else in the car, so every van carries tools that remove locking wheel nuts without one. Flag it in your first message and the fitter comes prepared, taking the locks off before the tyre work starts.
Keys often turn up in the last place anyone looks. On a holiday car, check the bag with the jack under the boot floor, the glovebox and the door pockets. On a hire car, look in the pack that came with it or ask the hire firm, as they may have a spare. On your own car, try the garage that last serviced it. Some keys have a code card for ordering a new one. Lost locking wheel nut key explains where to look.
No luck? Photograph one of the locking nuts square on and send it over, because the ring of grooves on its face tells us which remover to pack. The alloy is covered while the fitter works the lock off, the new tyre goes on, and ordinary bolts can replace the locks so the problem ends there. Nuts that have been attacked with a hammer and chisel are slower going but still yield. Stubborn cases are covered on seized locking wheel nuts, or ring 0300 124 6981.
Hold the wheel firmly and let the car slow down without braking hard. If a tyre bursts on the A591 bypass near Kendal, signal, pull onto the verge or into a lay by as far from the traffic as you can, put the hazards on and get everyone out on the side away from the road.
The bypass is a fast dual carriageway with little room at the side, so keep well away from the car. Climb the verge or step behind the barrier and wait there with everyone else. Leave the jack in the boot. A car that is stranded in a running lane needs a 999 call first, because the traffic must be stopped before anything else can happen. The M6 works the same way, and its hard shoulder is no workshop either. What to do after a tyre blowout lists every step.
Only once you are clear should the phone come out for us. A WhatsApp with the plate and a pin is enough to set a van rolling, day or night, loaded with a tyre that matches. The fit happens somewhere with room to work: a wide lay by, a junction car park, the hotel car park or your drive after the recovery truck drops the car off. Blowouts leave nothing worth mending. More on emergency mobile tyre fitting, or phone 0300 124 6981.
A Kendal tyre that keeps going flat usually has a stone or screw in the tread, a perished valve, or a leak where the tyre sits on a corroded rim. Cold weather also lowers pressure in all four tyres. The fitter can tell which it is at the car, and a central tread puncture costs £39.95 to repair to BS AU 159.
Start by checking whether it is one tyre or all four. On a frosty morning every tyre drops a little, and a top up is all that is needed. If one tyre keeps losing air while the others hold, something is wrong. On fell roads, sharp slate and flint can work into the tread. Winter grit and salt corrode alloy rims until the tyre no longer seals. Old valves crack in the cold. Slow puncture explains the signs.
Finding the fault is a hands on job. Off comes the wheel, the tyre is pumped to full pressure, and a brush of soapy water is run over tread, valve and rim until a line of bubbles gives the game away. Slate splinters get pulled out and the hole repaired from inside. Crumbling valves are replaced, and a crusty rim is taken back to shiny metal and sealed. Anything outside the repair zone means a new tyre. See can a punctured tyre be repaired, or send a picture to 07943 185471.
