The short answer

Is there a mobile tyre fitter in Backbarrow?

Yes. Backbarrow, LA12, is covered by YourNewTyres 24 hours a day. We fit tyres on drives in the village and at the roadside on the A590 once you are safe. Text the reg for three fitted prices and a real arrival time. No call out charge.

Backbarrow sits right on the A590, and the traffic on it moves fast. There is no tyre bay in the village either. So a flat here is best fixed where the car stops. Backbarrow is part of our mobile tyre fitting Ulverston patch.

Flat on the A590 itself? Get the car off the carriageway if you can, hazards on, everyone out on the side away from the traffic. If you are stuck in a live lane, call 999. When you are safe, text us your pin.

Flat on the drive at home in the village? Even easier. Text the reg and pick a time that suits you, tonight, first thing, or while you are at work. The car can stay exactly where it is.

How much does mobile tyre fitting cost in Backbarrow?

Mobile tyre fitting in Backbarrow costs from £79.95 per tyre, fitted at your home, work or the roadside. That includes fitting, balancing, a new valve and taking the old tyre away, with no call-out charge at any hour. A puncture repair to British Standard BS AU 159 is £39.95.

How quickly can a mobile tyre fitter get to me in Backbarrow?

Around 32 minutes on average, measured on our own job records across our core area, 24 hours a day. The common sizes ride on the van, so most jobs in Backbarrow are fitted the same day, and rarer sizes are usually next day. Send the registration and where the car is, and a fitted price and a real arrival time come straight back.

WhatsApp, any hour

Send the tyre size. We send back a fitted price and a time.

The size is on the sidewall of the tyre, or send us a photo of it. It lands with the fitter on shift. No call-out charge, and the fitting is already in the price.

You are through to YourNewTyres. What size are the tyres?

The size is printed on the sidewall, like 205/55 R16. Send that and where you are, and I will come back with a fitted price and the next slot.

A photo of the sidewall does the job if you would rather not type it out.

Things to do in Backbarrow

Old cars, steam trains and a bobbin mill

Backbarrow is a great base for a day out with kids. The Lakeland Motor Museum is right in the village, well under a mile away. Steam fans can ride the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, which starts under a mile off. Head up the lake and you reach the Lakes Aquarium, about 2 miles away, and Fell Foot, a park on the shore, about the same. Stott Park Bobbin Mill, an old working mill, is about 2.5 miles up the road.

A soft tyre halfway through the outing is annoying, but it is not the end of the trip. Send us the reg and a pin for where you parked. We come and fit the tyre there, or on your Backbarrow drive when you get home. Any hour of any day, and we never add a call out fee. The Furness side is on our mobile tyre fitting Ulverston page.

FAQs

Mobile tyre fitting Backbarrow: common questions

The things LA12 drivers ask us most.

There is one fitted price per tyre and it is the price you pay, whatever the hour. Send the registration on WhatsApp and you get budget, mid-range and premium options back, each with the fitting already in. A pair or a set can go on pay monthly at 0% interest, subject to status.

The arrival time we send is the real one for that job, not a promise made before we know where you are. On a motorway, get behind the barrier first, then send your location, and read what to do after a motorway blowout first.

Yes. YourNewTyres fits tyres in Backbarrow at any time of day or night, all year round. The fitter brings the tyre, the tyre machine and the balancer with him, so the car does not need to go anywhere.

To get going, text the reg to 07943 185471. We send back three fitted prices, from budget to premium, and a real arrival time. You say yes only if you are happy with both.

We never add a call out charge, whether the car is on a drive in the village or pulled off the A590. Would you rather talk to a person? Ring 0300 124 6981. Backbarrow is on our Ulverston round, so it is not an odd trip for the van. It is the next village on the road.

Safety comes first on the A590. Pull off the carriageway if you can, into a lay-by or a side road. Turn the hazards on and get everyone out on the side away from the traffic, behind the barrier if there is one.

If the car has stopped in a live lane and you cannot move it, ring 999 at once. Do not try to change the wheel at the side of a fast road. People get hurt doing that, and it is not worth it for a tyre.

Once you are safe, send us a pin from your map app and a photo of the tyre. We come to the car with the tyre on the van. We also cover motorway breakdowns across Cumbria and down to the M6. If the tyre burst, read what to do after a blowout while you wait.

It depends on your tyre size and the brand you want. Text the Backbarrow reg and we look up the size, then reply with three prices, budget, mid range and premium, each one fully fitted.

Those prices cover everything: fitting, a new valve, balancing and taking your old tyre away. There is no call out charge and nothing extra for nights or weekends. The price you agree by text is the price you pay. If your car turns out to have a different size fitted, the fitter tells you and agrees it with you before starting.

A screw in the tread might need only a £39.95 repair. Two or more tyres can be paid at 0% interest, subject to status. See what mobile fitting costs and pay monthly tyres.

Often it can. We repair punctures in Backbarrow for £39.95 to BS AU 159. The tyre always comes off the rim so the fitter can check the inside before he decides.

A small hole in the middle of the tread usually mends well. A hole near the edge, or any damage to the side wall, is not safe to repair. A tyre that has been driven flat for a mile or two is often ruined inside, even if it looks fine. If yours cannot be saved, you see the damage and get prices for a new tyre on the spot.

Leave the nail in until we get there. It is keeping some air in. And if the tyre is soft, park it rather than driving on. See can a puncture be repaired.

Yes. We work 24/7 in and around Backbarrow. A flat at midnight costs the same to fix as a flat at noon, and there is no call out charge at any hour.

Night flats on the A590 are the worst kind, because it is dark and the traffic is quick. Get well off the road, hazards on, and stand clear of the car. Then text your pin. We reply with a price and a real arrival time, and you decide if you want the van now.

If the car is safe at home, you may prefer an early morning fit and a proper night's sleep. Leave the locking nut key somewhere we can find it and tell us where. See emergency tyre fitting for more.

Yes, as long as the car is parked somewhere we can safely get to it. Lots of people park up around Backbarrow for the day. If you find a soft tyre when you set off, text us before you go.

Send the reg, a map pin, and the make and colour of the car. Leave the locking nut key in the car and tell us where it is. The fitter needs a bit of flat, firm ground next to the wheel, so say if the car is on grass or a slope.

You pay by a secure payment link sent to your phone, so you do not need to be there when we finish. We send a message, with a photo if you ask for one, so you know it is done before you walk back. See where we can fit.

No. Many Backbarrow jobs are done while the driver is at work or asleep. All we need is the car, the key for the locking nut if it has one, and a clear idea of where to find it.

Tell us which drive or which space. Mention a gate, a steep slope or a dog, and we plan around it. The fitter works beside the car, so there is no need to move it off your drive.

When the new tyre is on, we send a message. You then pay by a secure payment link sent to your phone. No cash, no card machine, no waiting in. Not sure what size you have? It is on the side of the tyre, or see tyre sizes.

About 20 to 40 minutes for each tyre once the van is next to your car in Backbarrow. Two tyres usually take a little over an hour.

The fitter lifts the car, removes the wheel and takes the old tyre off on the machine in the van. The new tyre goes on with a new valve. Then the wheel is balanced, the pressures are set to the figure on your door frame, and the nuts are done up to the right torque. We take the old tyre with us.

Common sizes are carried on the van. Larger or rarer tyres are ordered to your reg first, and we give you the date before you agree. Driving a 4x4 on the fell roads? See 4x4 tyres.

Yes. Every Backbarrow quote includes a budget tyre next to a mid range and a premium one. All of them are new tyres. We never fit part worn.

If you do short trips round the villages, a good budget tyre is fine. If you do the A590 and the fell roads in the wet every day, a mid range tyre usually grips better and lasts longer, so it can cost you less per mile. We tell you honestly which fits your driving.

With each price we send the EU label grades for wet grip and noise, so you can compare them on your phone. Need two or four? Pay at 0% interest, subject to status. See budget tyres and best budget brands.

Yes. From Backbarrow, Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge are each about 1.2 miles, Staveley in Cartmel about 1.6, Bouth about 1.8 and Finsthwaite about 2. Same prices, same 24/7 cover everywhere.

Lanes, farm drives and cottages up tracks are fine. If there is a gate, a narrow bridge or a cattle grid, tell us when you text. Not sure if we reach your road? Send the postcode and we reply in one message.

Each village has its own page, like Newby Bridge and Haverthwaite. For the town side, see Ulverston. Two cars at one house both due tyres? We do both in one visit, with one arrival time and one payment link. Holiday cottage guests can text us too, as long as the car is somewhere safe to reach.
