You send the tyre size or registration and your postcode and get a fixed fitted price and a time. A van with a tyre machine, a balancer and your tyre comes to your home, work or the roadside, the wheel comes off, the tyre is changed and balanced on the van, and the wheel goes back on torqued by hand. The van is the workshop. Everything a tyre bay has, the changing machine, the balancer, the compressor, the jack, the torque wrench and the stock, is on it, which is why the job on your drive is finished to the same standard as one in a garage and takes about the same time, around 30 to 40 minutes a tyre. Most of the questions on this list come down to three facts. There is no call out charge because the fitting is priced into the tyre, so the figure you are quoted is the figure you pay, at any hour. The service runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at the same price, because the tyre failures that strand people happen at night and on bank holidays. You have pulled onto the M62 hard shoulder with a shredded tyre, no spare and a phone at 9 per cent. The recovery truck wants two hours. We come to the car with the tyre on the van.
You come out to the drive and one tyre is flat to the rim. The garage opens at half eight and cannot look at it until Thursday. We fit it on the drive before the school gates open.
A work van with a nail in a rear tyre is a day of jobs cancelled. We come to the yard or the site, before the first job if you send the size tonight.

Each of these has stopped somebody booking. None of them holds up.
There is not. The fitting is priced into the tyre, so the fitted price is the whole price, and it is the same at every hour. Compare it with a garage price plus fitting, balancing, valve and disposal.
A fitter is on shift through the night with the common sizes on the van. Night work is the reason the service exists, and there is no out of hours rate for it.
The van carries a proper tyre changing machine with assist arms, the same as a tyre bay, so run flats and low profile tyres come off and go on without levering against the rim.
The common sizes are on the van. Anything else is ordered and fitted the next day at the same fitted price. Send the size or the reg and the reply says which.
You do not. Leave the locking nut key where the fitter can get it, say where the car is, and pay by card over the phone. Most weekday jobs are done with nobody home.

The fitter has the location from your message and the locking nut key from wherever you left it. On a road the van shields the working side of the car.
The car is jacked on firm ground, the wheel comes off and the old tyre comes off the rim on the van. On a puncture the casing is inspected from inside first.
The new tyre goes on with a new valve, is inflated to the door plate pressure and balanced on the van. Pressure sensors are reset where the car needs it.
The wheel is refitted and the nuts torqued to the manufacturer figure by hand. You pay by card at the car or over the phone; the old tyre leaves for recycling.

A fitter is on shift through the night and the van carries the common sizes, so a tyre that fails at 11pm on a Sunday is replaced at the roadside at 11pm on a Sunday. No. There is no call out charge, no mileage charge and no out of hours rate, because the fitting is priced into the tyre. The figure you are quoted is the tyre fitted at your door, balanced, with a new valve, pressures set and the old tyre taken away, and it is the same figure at two on a Sunday morning as on a Tuesday afternoon.

Every brand your size comes in. Premium is Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Goodyear and Dunlop; mid range includes Hankook, Yokohama and Nexen; and the budget tier is the brands we would put on our own cars, not the cheapest thing on the wholesaler list. You are quoted one from each tier and told which the fitter would choose.

Yes. A puncture repair is £39.95 mobile, done with the tyre off the rim so the inside can be inspected, and only where the British Standard allows it: the hole in the central three quarters of the tread, no bigger than 6mm, with no sidewall or shoulder damage and no earlier repair overlapping. If it fails that, you are shown why and quoted a replacement.
