The short answer

What does AA approved mobile tyre fitting mean?

AA approved mobile tyre fitting means the business behind the van has been inspected by the AA: an inspector checks the workshop equipment, the technicians' qualifications, the paperwork, how estimates are given before work and how complaints are handled. YourNewTyres is the mobile arm of Fastlane Autocare, whose St Helens workshop scored 100 per cent on that audit, and the same standards apply on your drive.

Approval is not a sticker somebody sells you. The AA sends an inspector into the workshop at 232-254 Boundary Road, St Helens, to look at the equipment, the technicians' qualifications, the records, how estimates are given before work starts and how complaints are dealt with. Fastlane Autocare passed at 100 per cent, and passed the separate RAC audit at 100 per cent too. Both certificates hang in reception because approved businesses have to display their rating where customers can see it. The vans run from that workshop, with the same technicians and the same rules, which is what makes a mobile fit in Chester or Blackpool an inspected one.

What it means when we arrive is simple. You get a fixed price on WhatsApp before anyone sets off, covering the tyre, the fitting, a new valve, balancing and disposal with no call-out charge. The tyre fitted is the one you were quoted for and correctly rated for the car. The wheel goes back on torqued by hand to the maker's figure, the pressures are set to the door plate, and the invoice matches the quote. Estimates before work and invoices that match them are the two things every approval scheme checks hardest, because they are the two things drivers complain about most. See mobile tyre fitting for what a fit at your door includes, and puncture repairs for the commonest call-out.

The AA also carries out the inspections for the Motor Industry Code of Practice network run by The Motor Ombudsman, under which garages commit to an honest and fair service, clear pricing, work as agreed, costs that match the quote, trained staff and a fast complaints procedure. Fastlane Autocare holds that accreditation as well, so if you are ever unhappy and we cannot put it right ourselves, there is a free, independent route written on the paperwork rather than an argument with a van. Every fitter is also REACT trained for roadside work. Send the size off the sidewall and your postcode on WhatsApp for a fixed price, or see where we cover across the North West and North Wales.

Send the tyre size. We send back a fitted price and a time.

The size is on the sidewall of the tyre, or send us a photo of it. It lands with the fitter on shift. No call-out charge, and the fitting is already in the price.

You are through to YourNewTyres. What size are the tyres?

The size is printed on the sidewall, like 205/55 R16. Send that and where you are, and I will come back with a fitted price and the next slot.

A photo of the sidewall does the job if you would rather not type it out.

The moment it goes wrong

A flat tyre never picks a good time

Three ways it usually happens, and what actually needs to happen next.

0111PM

The hard shoulder, in the rain

You have pulled onto the M62 hard shoulder with a shredded tyre, no spare and a phone at 9 per cent. The recovery truck wants two hours. We come to the car with the tyre on the van.

027:40

The school run that is not happening

You come out to the drive and one tyre is flat to the rim. The garage opens at half eight and cannot look at it until Thursday. We fit it on the drive before the school gates open.

03VAN

The van that is not earning

A work van with a nail in a rear tyre is a day of jobs cancelled. We come to the yard or the site, before the first job if you send the size tonight.

What the inspector checks

Six things an AA audit actually looks at

Most people see the logo and assume it means vetted without knowing what was vetted. This is the substance.

01

Equipment and calibration

Tyre machines, balancers, torque wrenches and pressure gauges, and the records that show they are calibrated. On the vans that is the same kit, checked the same way.

02

Qualifications

Who is doing the work and what they are trained to do. Our fitters are REACT trained for roadside work; the air con technicians hold the F-Gas qualification the law requires.

03

Estimates before work

A price given before the job starts, in writing where possible. We do it on WhatsApp before the van leaves, so the figure you see is the figure you pay.

04

Invoices that match

The invoice describes what was done and matches the estimate. No call-out charge appearing at the end, no tyre swapped for a cheaper one.

05

Complaints handling

A named route, a response, and an independent step if the business and the customer cannot agree. Ours is printed on the paperwork.

06

Paperwork and insurance

Public liability insurance, the waste carrier licence for old tyres, and the records that prove the rest. Boring, and the reason a badge means something. See about YourNewTyres.

What drivers get told

Six approval myths worth losing

Some of this comes from businesses that bought a badge and some from ones that never earned one.

01BUY

You can buy the badge

You can buy a logo. The AA inspection is a visit, a set of checks and a score, and it is repeated. A business that cannot tell you when it was last inspected has not been.

02SHOP

It only covers the workshop

The approval is of the business. The mobile fitters are the same staff on the same rules, and the complaints route is the same whether the tyre was fitted in the bay or on your drive.

03PRICE

Approved means expensive

Approval is about how you are treated, not the price of the tyre. What it guarantees is that the price you are quoted is the price you pay.

04CHAIN

Only chains get approved

The schemes inspect independents and chains alike, on the same standards. An independent that passes at 100 per cent has met exactly the same bar.

05ONCE

Approved once, approved forever

Re-inspected on a cycle, and removed from the scheme if the standard slips. The logo is policed.

06SAME

AA and RAC are the same thing

Two organisations, two separate inspections. Fastlane Autocare holds both at 100 per cent, which is unusual enough to have earned its own write-up.

How it works

An inspected fit, start to finish

Fixed price first, work as quoted, a route if anything is wrong.

1

Send the size or a photo

The tyre size is on the sidewall, or send us a photo of it with your postcode. It lands with the fitter on shift and a fixed fitted price comes back before anyone sets off.

2

A price before the work

The figure you are quoted is the figure you pay: tyre, fitting, new valve, balancing and disposal, with no call-out charge. Estimates before work is what the approval schemes exist to check.

3

Fitted where the car is

Home, work, a car park or the roadside, 24 hours a day. Tyre fitted on the van, balanced, pressures set to the door plate, nuts torqued by hand, old tyre taken away for recycling.

4

A route if anything is wrong

Tell us first and we put it right. If we cannot agree, an approved business has to offer you a free, independent dispute route, and ours is in writing on the invoice.

AA approval, explained

What an AA approved mobile tyre fitter actually promises

A mobile tyre fit happens on your drive with nobody watching but you. Most drivers cannot tell a wheel torqued by hand from one hit with an air gun, or a balanced tyre from one that will shake at sixty. An inspected business is one where somebody independent has checked the process that gets those things right, and where you have a route if they were wrong. What follows is what the inspection covers, why it sits with the business rather than the van, and what it means for the price.

What the inspection covers

The AA inspector visits the workshop and works through the equipment and its calibration records, the technicians' qualifications, the insurance and licences, how estimates are given before work starts, how invoices are written afterwards and how complaints are handled. Fastlane Autocare passed at 100 per cent. The AA also carries out the inspections for the Motor Industry Code of Practice network run by The Motor Ombudsman, which audits new members within a month and existing ones on a cycle, and publishes the results. Those are the same checks whether the customer ever sees the workshop or only ever sees the van.

Why it sits with the business, not the van

You cannot inspect a van at the kerb, and you cannot see a certificate in it. What you can check is the business the van belongs to. YourNewTyres is the mobile tyre fitting arm of Fastlane Autocare: same company, same fitters, same estimating rules, same complaints route, and the vans operate from the inspected workshop at 232-254 Boundary Road, St Helens, where both certificates hang in reception. A tyre fitted in Wrexham at two in the morning is fitted under the standard that was inspected in St Helens, and if it is not, the route to put it right is the same one.

What it means for the price

Approval does not make a tyre cheaper. It makes the price honest: an estimate before the work, an invoice that matches it, no call-out charge appearing at the end and no tyre quietly swapped for a cheaper one in the same size. We quote budget, mid-range and premium in your size so you can see the gap and choose, and we say which suits the car. Two tyres or more can be spread at 0 per cent with pay monthly, subject to status. The RAC approval we hold alongside this one adds a written Customer Charter and a free, binding dispute service, and is explained on its own page.

FAQs

AA approved mobile tyre fitting FAQs

What drivers ask about the approval before they book.

AA approval means the business behind the van has been inspected by the AA rather than having bought a badge: an inspector visits the workshop and checks the equipment, the technicians' qualifications, the paperwork, how estimates are given before work starts and how complaints are handled. YourNewTyres is the mobile tyre fitting arm of Fastlane Autocare, whose St Helens workshop scored 100 per cent on that AA audit.

The inspection is of the whole business, not one service. The same technicians, the same estimating rules and the same complaints process apply whether a tyre is fitted at the Boundary Road workshop or on your drive in Wrexham at two in the morning. That is the point of the approval sitting with the business rather than a building.

The AA also carries out the inspections for the Motor Industry Code of Practice network run by The Motor Ombudsman, under which garages commit to an honest and fair service, clear pricing, work done as agreed, costs that match the quote, trained staff and a fast complaints procedure. Fastlane Autocare holds Motor Ombudsman accreditation alongside the AA and RAC approvals.

What you should expect from us, then, is a fixed price before we set off, the work done as quoted, and a written route if you are ever unhappy. See RAC approved mobile tyre fitting for the second, separate inspection we also hold, and mobile tyre fitting for what a fit at your door includes.

The approval is held by Fastlane Autocare as a business, and the mobile tyre fitting is part of that business: the same company, the same technicians, the same standards and the same complaints route. The inspection happens at the St Helens workshop because that is where the equipment, the records and the staff are, and the vans operate from it.

That matters because a mobile service is otherwise hard to check. You cannot walk into a van and look at the certificates on the wall. What you can do is check that the business it belongs to has been inspected, and both certificates hang in the workshop reception at 232-254 Boundary Road, because approved businesses have to display their rating where customers can see it.

The standards the inspector checks apply directly to a tyre fitted at your door: an estimate before the work, the work done as described, correctly rated tyres, the invoice matching the quote, and a named person to speak to if something is wrong.

If you want to see the audit result before you book, ask, and we will show you. See about YourNewTyres for how the two businesses fit together.

They are two separate inspections by two separate organisations, and Fastlane Autocare holds both at 100 per cent. The AA inspects the workshop, qualifications, paperwork, estimating and complaints handling. The RAC scheme is a Chartered Trading Standards Institute approved code with a written Customer Charter, an annual inspection and a free, independent dispute service that is binding on the business.

Holding one is normal for a good garage. Holding both is unusual enough that the workshop wrote it up as the Double 100. For a customer the practical difference is small, because both schemes exist to check the same things: that you are told the truth about what the car needs, quoted before the work and treated properly if something goes wrong.

The RAC scheme is the one that spells out a mobile tyre repairer as a member category, and its dispute route through the National Conciliation Service is the one written on our paperwork. The AA inspection is the one that looks hardest at the workshop itself.

See RAC approved mobile tyre fitting for the RAC side in full.

No. Approval is about how you are treated, not the price of the tyre. What it does mean is that the price you are quoted is the price you pay, that the tyre fitted is the one you were quoted for and correctly rated for the car, and that there is no call-out charge or surprise on the invoice, because estimates before work and invoices that match them are exactly what the inspector checks.

We quote budget, mid-range and premium options in your size so you can see the real gap and choose, and we say honestly which suits the car. That is the honest and fair service the code asks for, and it is also simply how a tyre business keeps customers across the North West and North Wales for years.

On two tyres or more the cost can be spread at 0 per cent interest with pay monthly, subject to status, and approval does not change that either way.

See budget vs premium tyres for what the tiers actually buy, and pay monthly for the spread.

Tell us first, the same day if you can, and we come back and put it right, because that is what an approved business has to do and because it is quicker for everyone. If we cannot agree, the approval schemes require us to offer you a free, independent dispute route, and ours is printed on the invoice, so you are never left arguing with a van.

Most problems are simple: a tyre that shakes needs rebalancing, a pressure light that came on needs the system reset, a valve weeping needs a core. All of those are a return visit at no charge. A tyre that has been damaged by a pothole a week later is not our fault, and we will tell you that honestly too.

The independent route for the RAC code is the National Conciliation Service, free to you and binding on us. For the Motor Industry Code it is The Motor Ombudsman's free conciliation. Both are written into the schemes so that the business cannot simply ignore a complaint.

Call 0300 124 6981 or message on WhatsApp and it reaches the fitter on shift and the office. See wheel balancing for the commonest come-back and why it happens.

Yes. The AA inspection checks the technicians' qualifications as part of the audit, and beyond that every fitter on the van is REACT trained, the NTDA roadside safety licence for working on live roads and hard shoulders, and the air con technicians hold the F-Gas qualification the law requires for handling refrigerant. Tyres are fitted to the manufacturer's torque figures and pressures with a torque wrench, not an air gun.

Qualification is one half; equipment is the other. Each van carries a tyre machine that will not mark an alloy, a computerised wheel balancer, a TPMS programming tool, alignment gauges and the locking wheel nut removal sockets, so the job done on your drive is the job a good workshop would do.

The inspector also checks the paperwork that goes with the qualifications: insurance, waste carrier licence for the old tyres, and the records that show the equipment is calibrated.

See REACT trained tyre fitters and F-Gas trained air con technicians for what each qualification covers.

Yes. The certificates are displayed in the reception of the Fastlane Autocare workshop at 232-254 Boundary Road, St Helens, because approved businesses are required to display their rating where customers can see it, and the audit result is written up on the Fastlane website. Ask us and we will send you the detail before you book.

It is worth checking any business that uses an approval logo, because the logo is easy to copy and the inspection is not. A genuine approved business can tell you when it was last inspected and what the inspector looked at, and ours can.

The same applies to the RAC approval, which is listed under the Chartered Trading Standards Institute approved code and carries an annual inspection.

See RAC approved mobile tyre fitting and contact us if you would like to see the paperwork.

We cover the North West and North Wales, from Cumbria down to Cheshire and across to Anglesey, 24 hours a day, with an average of around 32 minutes to reach you in our core area. The approval travels with the business, so a tyre fitted in Bangor, Blackpool or Bolton is fitted under the same standard and the same complaints route as one fitted at the workshop.

Rural North Wales and the coast are where an inspected mobile service matters most, because the alternative is a long tow to a garage nobody has checked. We carry the common sizes on the van so most jobs are finished at the first visit.

Send your postcode with the size on WhatsApp and we give you an honest time rather than an optimistic one.

See where we cover for the full list of areas, and puncture repairs for the commonest call-out.

Yes. The approval is of the business, so every service we bring to your door falls under the same inspected standards: tyre fitting, puncture repairs to BS AU 159, wheel balancing, alignment, TPMS sensors, locking wheel nut removal, battery fitting and air con regas. Each is quoted before the work and done as quoted.

That is the reason we do not carry separate badges for separate services. A puncture repair done to the British Standard, a battery coded to the car and an air con regas with a vacuum leak test are all the same promise: the job done properly, the price agreed first and a route if anything is wrong.

Fleet customers get the same standard across a whole yard of vehicles, with a report per vehicle that evidences it.

See all services for the full list, and fleet tyre fitting for how it works across a fleet.

Because a mobile fit happens on your drive with nobody watching but you, and most drivers cannot tell a torqued wheel from a gunned one, a balanced tyre from an unbalanced one or a correctly rated tyre from a cheap one in the right size. An inspected business is one where somebody independent has checked those things are done, and where you have a route if they were not.

The failures a mobile customer cannot see are the ones that cost most: an over-tightened locking nut that will not come off next time, a wheel not balanced that scallops the tyre, a van tyre without the C marking that is a prohibition at a roadside check. The inspection is about the process that stops those, not about the paint on the van.

It also protects you on price. Approved businesses have to quote before the work and invoice what they quoted, which is why we give a fixed price on WhatsApp before we set off and why there is no call-out charge to add.

See mobile fitting vs a garage for what you gain by not driving to one, and locking wheel nut removal for the commonest damage a careless fitter leaves behind.

Approved businesses are re-inspected on a cycle rather than approved once and forgotten: under the Motor Industry Code network the AA audits new members within a month of joining and existing members on a regular cycle, and the RAC scheme inspects every year. Fastlane Autocare's most recent AA and RAC audits both scored 100 per cent.

A re-inspection covers the same ground as the first: equipment, qualifications, paperwork, estimating and complaints. A business that has let any of those slip is told, and one that does not fix it loses the approval and the right to use the logo, which the schemes police.

The date of the last inspection is something any approved business should be able to tell you, and we can.

See about YourNewTyres for the business behind the vans, and RAC approved mobile tyre fitting for the annual RAC cycle.

No. YourNewTyres is the mobile tyre arm of Fastlane Autocare, an independent business with its own workshop in St Helens, its own vans and its own fitters, approved by the AA and the RAC on its own merits rather than under a national brand's umbrella. The person who answers the phone is in the office or on the van, not in a call centre.

That is why the response time is around 32 minutes rather than a booking slot two days out, why the prices are fixed by us rather than set nationally, and why a complaint is dealt with by someone who can actually send a van.

Independent does not mean unchecked. The two approvals are the independent check, and they are the same ones the big chains hold.

See about YourNewTyres for the story, and mobile tyre fitting for what every fit at your door includes.
