The short answer

Where can I get 205/60 R16 tyres fitted today?

We fit 205/60 R16 tyres wherever your car is parked, across the North West and North Wales, 24 hours a day. It is on the van, so same day is normal. Send the size or your reg on WhatsApp. We come back with a fitted price and an arrival time. There is no call out charge, whatever the hour.

The Niro is on a flat and the school run starts in half an hour. The Berlingo is loaded for work and one tyre is bald. The Stepway has a nail in it and a long drive tomorrow. On a car like this, one bad tyre stops the whole household.

We keep 205/60 R16 on the van, so the fitter can swap it the first time he comes. He balances the wheel, fits a new valve and takes the old tyre. Each tyre takes 20 to 40 minutes. One tip for Dacia drivers: the Stepway and the Jogger use this size, but the plain Sandero does not. Send your reg and we make sure. More on fitting at your car.

We price budget, mid range and premium, all fitted. On a Berlingo or a loaded estate, we match the load rating too. Pay monthly covers two or more at 0%, subject to status. WhatsApp now or ring 0300 124 6981, and we give you a time.

Send the tyre size. We send back a fitted price and a time.

The size is on the sidewall of the tyre, or send us a photo of it. It lands with the fitter on shift. No call-out charge, and the fitting is already in the price.

You are through to YourNewTyres. What size are the tyres?

The size is printed on the sidewall, like 205/55 R16. Send that and where you are, and I will come back with a fitted price and the next slot.

A photo of the sidewall does the job if you would rather not type it out.

When it goes wrong

Three ways a 205/60 R16 ruins your day

Crossovers, estates and small vans on this size. These are real calls.

01VAN

Loaded Berlingo, bald front

Tools in the back, first job at eight, and the front tyre is past the limit. We come to the yard or to your first job. You lose half an hour, not the day.

02KIDS

Flat Niro before school

The crossover sits low on the drive and the bags are packed. Get a lift with a friend today. We fit the tyre on the drive while you are out.

03A666

A pothole on the way home

A bang on the A666 and the tyre starts going soft. Pull in somewhere safe and well lit. Send your location. The fitter brings the tyre to where you are.

Two problems, two fixes

Flat or bald 205/60 R16? We fix it at the car.

We hear the same two stories every day. A tyre that went down overnight, or tread worn to the legal limit. Both get fixed where the car stands. Call 0300 124 6981, or drop the size into WhatsApp.

Nail in it? A repair may do

A nail in the main tread of a crossover tyre is often a simple fix. We take the tyre off the wheel and check inside before saying yes. If it is safe, it is repaired to BS AU 159 for £39.95. Damage on the wall or the shoulder cannot be fixed. Neither can a tyre that ran flat. Then we fit a new 205/60 R16 from the van instead.

A nail in the tread of a 205/60 R16 crossover tyre

Worn to the bars? That is 1.6mm

The law needs 1.6mm of tread across the middle three quarters of the tyre. Below it, the fine is up to £2,500 and 3 points per tyre. Crossovers and estates are heavy, so they wear their fronts quickly. Replace both on the axle together. A matched pair keeps a tall car steady when you brake hard on a wet road.

Budget, mid range or premium in 205/60 R16

A car doing short trips can get away with budget. Heavier cars that tow, carry or cover big miles do better on mid range or premium. Those grip harder in the wet and often last longer. We send three fitted prices, each with its EU wet grip grade. You choose. We fit it the same day.

FAQs

205/60 R16 tyre questions

Real questions from drivers on 205/60 R16.

Your price depends on the tier, the brand and how many you need. A heavier car may also need a higher load rating. Send the size or your reg and we reply with three fitted prices. Each one covers fitting, balancing, a new valve and disposal of the old tyre. No call out charge.

We never post a price that could be out of date by tomorrow. Tyre costs move, so we quote live. The fitted price is the full amount. Nothing is added for the time of day, the place or the miles to reach you. See what mobile fitting costs for how a fitted price is built. It is short, and it is plain.

For a family crossover, mid range is often the sweet spot. It grips well and it lasts. Premium names like Goodyear, Michelin and Continental cost more but stop shortest in the wet. Buying two or four? Pay monthly spreads the cost at 0% interest, subject to status. Your crossover is safe to drive tonight, and the bill is split into easy months. Tell us your miles and we will point you at the right tier.

Yes, us. We fit 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and this size is on the van. Night fits are a normal part of the job. In our core area we reach you in about 32 minutes on average. Send your postcode and you get a real time back, not a vague promise.

At night, safety comes first. If you are at the roadside, park as far from traffic as you can and put your hazards on. Wait somewhere safe, out of the car if it is on a fast road. Then message us a pin. Emergency tyre fitting covers what we do on a late call, and what you should do while you wait.

The fitter brings lights and all the kit. We work on drives, in car parks and at the kerb. There is no extra charge for a night call, because there is no call out charge at all. If the van nearest you is out of this size, we tell you and give the next real slot. Our coverage lists every area we reach.

Yes. Crossovers and estates on this size are often used all year in all weathers, so all season tyres make a lot of sense. You fit them once and keep them on. They grip better in the cold than a summer tyre. We can price them next to your usual tyre.

Check for the mountain and snowflake mark on the wall. It proves the tyre passed a snow test. On a heavy car that tows or goes up farm lanes, that extra grip in the cold helps. It is not a full winter tyre, but it is close enough for most drivers round here. Best all season tyres lists what to look for.

Is it worth it? If your car sleeps outside and does early starts, yes. If it mostly does dry town miles, a summer tyre is still fine. A Berlingo loaded for work in January is a good case for all season. See tyre pressure in cold weather too. Cold air drops your pressures, so check them more often in winter. We set them right on the day we fit.

Quite a mix. The Ford Focus Mk4 and the Mercedes A Class W177 use it on entry trims. So do the Audi Q2, Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series on lower powered versions. The Dacia Sandero Stepway and Jogger, Kia Niro and Ceed, Hyundai Kona, Mazda3, Citroen C3 Aircross and Berlingo run it too.

The badge is not enough to go on. A Focus or a 3 Series can come on three or four sizes, depending on trim and wheels. The tyre wall has the answer. So does the sticker inside the driver door. Or send your reg and we check it for you. Kia tyres covers the Niro and Ceed, if you drive one of those.

The Mercedes C Class W205 uses this size on its entry trim too. Premium badges often hide a sensible tyre size on the basic models. That is good news, as the choice is wide and prices stay fair. If your car wears something bigger, check 215/55 R17. Many crossovers use that size on the higher trims. A Kona or a Niro on bigger wheels is a good example. Your tyre wall will tell you.

No. Only one number is different, but a 205/60 R16 is a taller tyre. Fit the wrong one and your speedo reads wrong. It also confuses the systems that help you brake and stay in lane. On some cars it can rub the arch at full lock. We always check the size against your car.

The first number is the width. The second is how tall the wall is, as a share of that width. So a 60 has a taller wall than a 55. The R16 is the wheel size. Two tyres with the same width and wheel can still be different heights. Tyre size explained covers the whole code in a few minutes.

This mix up is common because the two sit next to each other in lists. If your car is on 205/55 R16, see 205/55 R16 instead. If you are not sure which is on now, send a photo of the tyre wall. We read it for you. It is quicker than getting it wrong and waiting for another van. A wrong order costs you a day with the car off the road.

Very likely, yes. The Sandero Stepway and the Jogger both use 205/60 R16 on many versions. The standard Sandero does not. It runs a smaller size. Because the names are so alike, people often order the wrong tyre. Send us your reg and we check it before the van leaves.

A Stepway sits higher and has chunkier wheels than the normal Sandero. That is why the tyre is taller. Put a plain Sandero tyre on a Stepway and it will not fit the wheel. Some Stepways and Joggers also come on a 17 inch wheel. Your tyre wall settles it. Dacia tyres covers each model and what it runs.

The Jogger is a seven seat family car, so it can carry a lot. When it is full, the tyres take a heavy load. We match the load rating to the car, not just the size. That keeps it stable with the whole family on board. Read speed rating and load index if you want to know what the code on the wall means. We do the checking, so you do not have to.

Often, yes. A nail or screw in the central tread can usually be repaired if the tyre was not run flat. We remove the tyre from the wheel and check inside first. A safe repair is done to BS AU 159 for £39.95. If it is not safe, we fit a new one from the van.

We say no to a repair when the damage is near the edge, on the wall, or bigger than a small hole. A tyre driven while flat also gets a no, as the inside breaks up. Heavier cars can do that damage faster. Puncture repairs explains how a proper repair is done. We will show you the damage either way, so you can see for yourself.

If your tyre keeps losing air slowly, it may be a small leak. It could be a nail, the valve or the rim. We find it before deciding what to do. Slow puncture explains the usual causes. Keep the pressure topped up until we arrive. Call 0300 124 6981 if you would like to talk it through first, day or night.

Check the tread. It must be at least 1.6mm deep across the middle three quarters, all the way round. Under that, each tyre can mean up to £2,500 and 3 points. Any bulge, deep cut or cord showing is also illegal. Heavy cars and loaded vans wear tyres down faster.

Look for the small raised bars inside the grooves. When the tread is flush with them, the tyre has reached the limit. A 20p coin is a quick home test. Push it into the tread. If you can see the band round the edge, the tyre is close. When to replace tyres covers tread, age and damage in one place.

Do not wait for the limit. Wet grip falls as tread wears, and a heavy car needs every bit of it to stop. Many drivers change at about 3mm. If you got an MOT advisory, send us a photo of it. We will price exactly what it says. Read failed MOT on tyres for what testers check, and why. A worn tyre found today is cheaper than a failed test next month.

Usually, yes. The two tyres on an axle should be the same size and type, with similar tread. On a heavy crossover or estate, uneven grip shows up quickly when you brake hard. If one is worn out, the other has done the same miles and is rarely far behind.

A new tyre and an old one on the same axle can make the car pull under braking. On a tall car, that can feel unsettling in the wet. A matched pair keeps it straight and calm. Two tyres or four explains when one is fine. Four wheel drive versions can need all four changed together, so tell us if yours is one.

If only one tyre is damaged and the other is nearly new, we fit one. We check all four and tell you what can wait. Uneven wear on one edge often points to the tracking. Wheel alignment explains how that eats tyres. We will tell you if we spot it, with no hard sell and no scare stories. Fix the tracking and your new tyres last longer.

For light use, a good budget tyre is fine. If you carry the family, tow, load up for work or do long miles, go mid range or premium. They grip better in the rain and often last longer. We send all three prices at once, so you can compare them easily on your phone.

The EU label grades wet grip from A to E. We send that grade beside each price, so you can see what the extra money buys. On a heavy car, better wet grip shortens how far you need to stop. Tyre labels explained covers noise and fuel too. Premium tyres explains when the top tier is worth paying for.

Think cost per mile, not just cost today. A cheap tyre that wears out in a year can cost more than a better one over time. If you are selling soon, go budget. If you are keeping the car, spend a bit more. Best budget tyre brands helps you choose well at the lower end, without guessing. A good budget tyre is fine. A bad one is not worth the saving.

Yes, right across Chester. Hoole, Upton, Saltney and the city centre are all covered. We fit at home, at work or at the roadside, any time of day or night. This size is on the van, so today is normal. WhatsApp the size with your postcode and we send a fitted price.

Chester sits by the M53 and the A55, on the main road into North Wales. Tyre gone on a fast road? Get off the carriageway if you safely can, leave by the passenger door and stand behind the barrier. Then send us a pin. Read mobile tyre fitting in Chester for the local details, including the roads and estates we cover.

Plenty of Chester drivers book a fit at work, so the car is ready at home time. Tarvin, Ellesmere Port and the villages by the Welsh border are covered too. Same fitters, same hours, same fitted price. Want to speak to someone first? Call 0300 124 6981. Our coverage list has all 2,700+ areas. If your road is not listed, message us anyway. We will say straight away whether we can reach you.

About 20 to 40 minutes a tyre once the van arrives. A pair usually takes under an hour and a half. In our core area we reach you in around 32 minutes on average. So most jobs are done well within a morning, and you do not have to go anywhere.

During the fit, the car is lifted and the wheel comes off. The old tyre is removed and the new one goes on with a new valve. The wheel is balanced, refitted and tightened properly. Then we set the pressures to your door sticker. See how mobile fitting works for the full visit, step by step.

Got a tyre pressure light? We reset it before leaving. If a sensor has failed, we can often replace it on the same visit. TPMS sensor replacement explains what is involved. Tell us about any warning lights when you book. That way, we bring the right parts and finish in one visit, with no return trip. Most people are back on the road before their coffee has gone cold. The old tyres go with us for recycling.
